Sovereignia

Back to Main

In what sense is Sovereignia a nation?

At its outset, Sovereignia aims to be a nation. What is a nation?

The most concentrated form of a nation, in an older sense of the word, is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed based on a common descent and hence race (if applicable) or stock; a common ethnicity, culture, language, economic life, and so on; a common psychological make-up as manifested by the individuals and the culture; and a common territory or relationship with land (as with nomads or a dispersed people). A nation is a distinct and cohesive people.

Sovereignia aims to be a nation, not of the most concentrated form, but of a form that contains smaller nations as well as smaller communities and tribes. It does aim to be a distinct and cohesive people, but one with distinctive sub-groups -- a nation that unifies distinct peoples.

Sovereignia aims to be nation that unifies distinct peoples and hence respects different approaches within a window of acceptability and best practices. That window can include (noncoercive) socialist practices, (noncoercive) individualist practices, multi-ethnic cultures, mono-ethnic cultures (including ethnostates), liberal or illiberal, conservative or non-conservative, and so on. A Sovereign person can choose to associate or disassociate with others as he or she sees fit, and interact with the world in a variety of ways that respect others' sovereignty as well. And the key to unity here is that respect for a diversity of approaches within a window of acceptability for practices that prevent corruption and interference against others' chosen ways of life.

Sovereignia aims to include people across different, disconnected territories, not just one contiguous territory.

And, as in the more modern sense of the word, Sovereignia aims to be a politically distinct people, with its own culture regarding governance, law, best practices in business ethics, and so on.

Sovereignia aims to be an independent sovereign nation. And it aims to have the healthiest culture in the world, taking whatever lessons it can from the cultures that have come before and those existing today.
